About Chris
Born and raised in East Hawai'i, Representative Chris Toshiro Todd is a graduate of the University of Hawai'i at Hilo with a bachelor's degree in economics and political science. As an active member of the community, he spends much of his time outside of the legislature as a coach for the Hilo High Vikings football team. Prior to entering the legislature in 2017, Chris held several positions at Suisan Fish Market and Hawai'i Paper Products.
During his time in the legislature, Chris has experienced several life-changing events, including the birth of his daughter Ruby (3 years old) and a bout with cancer in 2017. Chris remains deeply committed to advocating for working families at the Capitol. As a young father, Chris is also passionate about creating pathways for local youth, both in East Hawai'i and across the state, to reach their professional and personal dreams.
In his six full legislative sessions, Chris lists rat lungworm research funding, the preservation of the Hawai'i Youth Challenge Academy, lease extensions for local farmers, and funding for four new Child Welfare Service workers as his biggest legislative accomplishments.
